Simple ingredients. Seasonal flavors. Homemade happiness.

Ingredients

For the cake

  • 200 g all-purpose flour (about 1⅔ cups)
  • 4 eggs
  • 100 g sugar (½ cup)
  • 200 g Greek yogurt (about ¾ cup + 1 tbsp)
  • 10 g baking powder (2½ tsp)
  • A little vanilla essence (about 1 tsp, or to taste)
  • Fresh, seedless plum halves, as needed
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Note: Cup measurements are approximate conversions. Use a kitchen scale for the most accurate results.

Preparation

1. Prepare the batter

Preheat your oven to 175°C (347°F).

In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar and vanilla essence until well combined and slightly creamy.

Add the Greek yogurt and mix until smooth.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, stirring until you have a smooth cake batter.

2. Prepare the plums

Wash the fresh plums, remove the stones, and cut them into halves.

Prepare your baking tray by lining it with baking paper or greasing it lightly.

Pour the batter into the prepared tray and spread it evenly.

Arrange the seedless plum halves on top of the batter, gently pressing them into the surface if needed.

3. Bake

Place the cake in the preheated oven and bake at 175°C (347°F) for approximately 25 minutes.

Check the cake with a toothpick inserted into the center. It should come out clean or with a few moist crumbs.

Allow the cake to cool before dusting it generously or lightly with powdered sugar, according to your preference.

Cut into square pieces and enjoy!

Baking Tips

  • Choose ripe plums: Fresh, ripe but firm plums give the cake a lovely fruity flavor without becoming excessively watery.
  • Check the baking time: Every oven is different. Start checking around 20–25 minutes.
  • Powdered sugar: Dust the cake after cooling for a beautiful finishing touch.
  • Greek yogurt: Plain, thick Greek yogurt works well. If using a thinner yogurt, the batter consistency may vary slightly.

Storage

  • Room temperature: Store covered for up to 1 day if your kitchen is cool.
  • Refrigerator: Keep in an airtight container for up to 3–4 days.
  • Serving: Allow refrigerated cake to sit at room temperature briefly before serving for a softer texture.

Because the cake contains fresh fruit and yogurt, refrigeration is a good choice for longer storage.
